Update: Since posting the above the Avast free AV is displaying an error message saying the "UI failed to load" In addition the Acer is having problems with Windows Update, which was the precursor for me attempting the internet sharing.Īny help with this will be much appreciated. Although I installed some of the software on the other machines they do not appear to have the same problem and there is no Ndisrd.sys in there respective C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers folders and Rkill does not stop internet traffic on them either. Ndisrd.sys appears in C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers folder with a creation date of, which is a date I installed some of the software. The only way I've found to get the internet working again is to reboot the laptop, this also re-establishes the missing "Sharing" tab for the Network Adapters Properties pages. Coincidentally the "Sharing" tab from all Network Adapter Properties pages disappears. The Rkill log shows that it stops Ndisrd as a PUP/Gen. I've had to update the scanning software before running RKill and because RKill(?) stops internet traffic it is not possible to run online scanners like Zemana. The various scans only showed up 3 tracking cookies. Internet connection is via a remote high gain USB antennae/dongle. RKill(?) appears to stop internet traffic, however the Network and Sharing Center indicates that the internet is still connected. I've scanned the Acer with Adwcleaner, Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro and SuperAntispyware running Rkill before each. After trying many things and downloading software to help I think I've ended up with the Acer at least being infected this appeared evident as it suddenly became very slow for both internet and normal use. This was attempted using a combination onboard WiFi, external WiFi dongle, ethernet and mobile phone hotspot and switching the AV and Firewalls off at various times. I've been trying unsuccessfully to set up internet connection sharing between an HP laptop running Win 10 Home ver 1803 32 bit with Avast free AV, an Acer laptop running Win 10 Pro ver 1803 32 bit with Avast free AV and an HP TouchSmart running Win Home 64 bit with AVG Internet Security.
